   Laurin " Little Monster " Birckhead has been freelance model from Baltimore , Maryland  for three years . She is a model for Strange Beauty , Entertainment for three years. She first started modeling  at the age of eleven and has been in love with it ever since. Her interest in alternative modeling first peaked at the age of six-teen when she saw the Suicide Girl website for the first time . " It was like " No way !! " These girls are hot! " she said remembering seeing the beautiful tattooed pin up girls . " It's never occurred to me that tatted girls could be glamours and really be taken seriously . It was inspiring . " 

 

In school , Laruin wasn't into all the same things that her classmates were in terms of style or music . Try as she might to try to fit in , she was still a target for bullies. "They thought I worshiped the Devil. " she laughs recalling her " goth" days of black nail polish and short dark hair . " I was a black girl , but I dressed in band shirts and chains on my pants . They didn't know what to make of it. "  The consent harassment sent Laurin into a deep depression that nearly ruined her self esteem.   She didn't feel safe to be herself in a school full of abrasive kids . 

 

 

It wasn't until after high school that Laurin  started to take her fashion into her own hands . She went from a goth-y tomboy in high school to a vivacious  young woman with bright colored hair. " One time I remember waking up in the morning and the first thought that came to my mind was " I want purple hair. " I went out and dyed in that day . I would have NEVER been able to do that in high school . It's a wonderful feeling being able to do something for me . "  She would spend hours on YouTube looking up videos of different styles and make up . It was here that her passion for alternative fashion grew  . Her fashion idols are Rihanna , Kesha , and Lady Gaga ( from who she also got her name ) . " I love bold fearless women who love to make a statement. There's nothing like a women who knows what she wants and goes for it .  " Laurin continues her passion of modeling through out local publications around Baltimore  . " Always do what you love , life is to short not too. Happiness is a freedom you can only give yourself . "
